Within 30 days following the wedding, a couple must provide a hard copy in triplicate to the marriage officer of the district where the ceremony took place or where the couple lives.
When the marriage officer receives the notice, he or she sends a copy. The marriage official will also send notification to the couple’s district marriage registry.
After 30 days, the Sub-Registrar will register the marriage if the Bridegroom and Bride sign a confession in front of three witnesses and swear the other person will be their legal spouse. The pair might try doing something like garlands trading.
After this, the marriage is formal, and the marriage officer writes the couple’s and witnesses’ names in the marriage record.
